Each pipe joint or manhole joint
shall be sealed with an external rubber sleeve similar to
the Infi-Shield® Seal Wrap as manufactured by Sealing System,
Inc. (763-478-2057). The seal shall be made of EPDM (Ethylene
Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber with a minimum thickness
of 60 mils. Each unit shall have a 2" wide mastic strip
on the top and bottom edge of the rubber wrap. The mastic
shall be non-hardening butyl rubber sealant, with a minimum
thickness of 1/4". The seal shall be designed to prevent
leakage of water into the manhole or pipe joint. |

EST-4001 is a non-hardening
butyl rubber based sealant, designed to comply with the
current standards and specifications required by Federal,
State, and local regulatory agencies for use with the precast
concrete industry and its contractors. EST-4001 is designed
to remain flexible and will not shrink or oxidize under
long-term aging, and it is resistant to environmental temperature
extremes, acid and alkaline conditions. An adhesive type
seal, it bonds immediately to a clean, dry surface, including
concrete, metal, glass, and most plastics. |
|
Adhesion
and cohesion actually improve after initial bond has been
formed and placed in service, and as such, these butyl sealants
are in common use sealing: |
-
Concrete Foundations
-
Burial Vaults
-
Pipe Joints
|
-
Manhole Joints
-
Septic Tanks
-
Utility Tanks
